Lady Croom: ...What hermits do you have?
Noakes: I have no hermits, my lady.
Lady Croom: Not one? I am speechless.
Noakes: I am sure a hermit could be found. One could advertise.
Lady Croom: Advertise?
Noakes: In the newsapers.
Lady Croom: But surely a hermit who takes a newspaper is not a hermit in whom one can have complete confidence.
From Arcadia by Tom Stoppard. (This excerpt follows on from the second of these passages).
One of my favourite bits from one of my favourite plays.

Ha! I was just about to write exactly what Juxtabook has written!! It truly is a fabulous play. I was so sorry I didn't get a chance to see the recent production in London, which was meant to be excellent.

What a brilliant play. I experienced the New York production, which was outstanding. I still remember it vividly. It remains for me Stoppard's most deeply felt work.
