If you've visited Cornflower today you'll have seen some of the Postcards from Penguin: 100 Book Jackets in One Box, and here are a few more from this interesting and good quality collection. Included are lots of the classic 'striped' covers such as those above, some very well known designs:
and others I have never come across before
such as this attractive Penguin Poetry series from 1963.
What would you do, send them to friends, use them as bookmarks or cards for suitably literary jottings, or as reminders to track down some books you've yet to read?
I'm afraid I'd love them too much to actually send them. In fact this seems to happen with quite a lot of my stationery... K x

I just saw your post of some of them over at cornflower, and I just love them. What a fantastic idea, I think I would use a lot of them to decorate with. Perhaps use some for bookmarks as well.

I am waiting for these to arrive from The Book Depository. I will not be sending any of them. I have plenty of other postcards for that purpose. These are just for me.

Send them to friends of course!

I think I would put some in frames and hang them all about the house, and I would use some for bookmarks!

I dont think I could part with them or write on them it has to be said. I would probably just use them to add to the TBR which would be dangerous and occasionally as a book mark in a nice hardback.

I look forward to receiving mine and seeing if I actually share any!

I would be very tempted to keep them as bookmarks, but would also try to be noble and send a few to friends too ;)

I think I would just keep them and stroke them every now and then. Far too good to send to anybody!

I have just added them to my wish list for the Upcoming Holiday.
I think if I WERE to receive them, they'd become a measure of my esteem: only my nearest and dearest would receive them--or people with whom I share a uniquely bookish bond!

I asked for these for my birthday... but they didn't come. I intend to get two sets - one to keep, and one to send.

Yes, these are coming to me for Christmas I hope! They are on a list I have made in any case. I shall keep the ones I like best, I guess and send the others. I wish ALL publishers did this....The Faber Diary last year had some stunning covers which I'd love as postcards, if anyone from Faber is reading this!

Some feedback seven months later [June 2010]:
I wanted to order 2 more boxes of these cards. I found on the Penguin Books site that they had none but when I responded to their message to put my name on the waiting list they got back to me a day later saying it was OK to order them. This is I did; cost £14.99 each and VAT was added to the total order. Free delivery in UK.
However, I see on Amazon they list them as being in stock. Price £10.99!

That's very vexing, Barbara!
