I didn't get to go inside on this visit (oh, the tyranny of parking meters!),
but its exterior puts it firmly in the 'quaint bookshops' category.
As to books set in St. Andrews, I haven't read Hue and Cry by Shirley McKay, but it's a sixteenth century 'town and gown' murder mystery featuring a young lawyer (and the first of a series), so it sounds very appealing.
I used to spend my summers on a far at Pitscottie, by St Andrews, and much of the time was spent plotting how to get to this bookshop. I bought some of my early favourites there, many of which I still have, four decades later. I revisited last summer, and bought some new favourites. But I didn't think to take photographs of the lovely building, so thank you for this great post

I have been visiting St Andrew's yearly for over 30 years and love visiting this book shop. Have bought many books over the years for myself, children and now grandson there.

I love St. Andrews. I had a friends studying there and used to visit. It has a beautiful sandy beach which reminded me a little of the film The Piano. And I think I've visited this bookshop, although it was a while back. It still seems to have a bit of 'town and gown' history so the book should be very interesting.
