I thought I'd be brief and to the point today (especially in the light of yesterday's post and all your very helpful comments - for which many thanks).
Current reading: The Dog Who Came In From The Cold, and Freddie de la Hay, Pimlico terrier, is officially in the service of his country and possibly in great danger at the hands of some Russians! Meanwhile, chapter 50 is entitled "The yeti goes shopping" (at Fortnum & Mason, actually). In what other book would you encounter such things? Great fun.
Just arrived: The Pindar Diamond. I loved Katie Hickman's The Aviary Gate so I'm really looking forward to this sequel which is set in Venice in 1604. I'm expecting lots of atmosphere, intrigue and romance ....
Just finished: Rosie Thomas' Lovers and Newcomers. Once the middle-aged characters stopped trying to recapture their youth, this was an engaging read with some thought-provoking strands on growing older, loss, love and independence. An English country house novel with a difference.
