Here's what I took to read on my holiday, and it proved to be overly ambitious! I should know by now that being in a landscape like this one means if you're not out doing something then you're sitting gazing at the view, so books are relegated to a few minutes at bedtime.
I did finish the Maggie O'Farrell (it's terrific - post coming soon), and I started this month's Book Group book (very good indeed so far), but Mystery Mile remained unopened.
Meanwhile, several more books have been delivered to supplement the piles already waiting for me. Proper introductions to follow, but they are over there on the right in the New Arrivals list.
(If you've emailed while I've been away, apologies for the lack of response - there was no internet or mobile signal where we were - I'll be replying a.s.a.p.).
I dream of a holiday somewhere with no mobile/internet signal...what bliss. However, the chickens and the dogs have pointed out that they expect their people to be on hand night and day, so I'll have to make do with a quick jaunt round the Borders on Saturday, weather permitting!
I hope you have returned feeling much restored and rested - and all raring to go for the Book Festival perhaps?

I always used to say that my husband was sad, for constantly needing to be in touch with the office, whilst we were on holiday, even if that meant him driving miles to the nearest internet cafe to get a signal. Now I have my own website and small business, I find myself being much more needy of staying connected than he is, and a week away in Cornwall, in a spot with no connection, was torture. Does that make me too much of a hypocrite?

Welcome back Karen look forward to your thoughts on the Maggie O'Farrell, I thought it was terrific too and sometimes that 'no internet' is terrific too, a complete rest in the real world.Though I moan like crazy when the Devon broadband is down , it does me as much good as a restful holiday:-)

I do love reading, but when you have a view like that it's almost a sin not to pay attention to it. Hope you had a lovely time!
