I've been lunching with Lizzy Siddal today, chatting about the literary life and hearing all about her exploits at the Edinburgh International Book Festival (I am sworn to secrecy!).
It was lovely to meet Lizzy, to swap book recommendations and to take in some of Edinburgh's literary locations - she'll be revealing them in due course.
Now back at home after a busy day, I'm settling down to read The Anatomy of Ghosts by Andrew Taylor. He is a writer of whom I've heard marvellous things (particularly about The Roth Trilogy and the 'Lydmouth' series) and I've been eager to try him for quite a while; his new book, set in eighteenth century Cambridge and described as "a novel of dichotomies" exploring "a world that teeters between intellect and barbarity, morality and greed, madness and superstition", sounds a most appealing introduction to his work.
I've heard quite a bit about The Anatomy of Ghosts -- I'd be interested to hear more about it and your thoughts on it!

I'm posting a review of the Andrew Taylor on An Awfully Big Blog adventure (the blog of the Scattered Authors' Society) this coming Saturday. You have treats in store both with that and with the Roth Trilogy!
