"I could see by the way she sniffed that she was about to become critical. There had always been a strong strain of book-reviewer blood in her."
From Aunts Aren't Gentlemen by P.G. Wodehouse.
(I must also just quote the blurb from our edition: "On doctor's orders, Wooster withdraws to the country, there to lead the quiet martini-less life, to sleep the sleep of the just in Maiden Eggesford. The air is nimble, the countryside appealing and only the presence of the irrepressible Aunt Dahlia shatters the rustic peace. As always with Aunt Dahlia, an imbroglio develops - destined to be famous down the long years as The Maiden Eggesford Horror or The Case of The Cat Which Kept Popping Up When Least Expected ...").
The library has this! Joy unbounded!!

Wodehouse is the only author who has made me laugh out loud while reading. Others make me smile, but Wodehouse makes me laugh.

Alexander McCall Smith can also make me laugh out loud, but Wodehouse is the master!

This is a fun book - and you have the same edition as me! My only quibble was how obvious it is that Wodehouse is a dog man rather than a cat man - but I suspect that won't bother you!

Indeed! I think it was Pekinese that Wodehouse was particularly keen on.

It seems to be available, Efi. Ours is a few years old, but there is a newer edition.

Nobody writes aunts like Wodehouse.

I have been trying to get this for ages. There is nothing like a visit with Jeeves & Co. The best tonic going!
