If you've seen the Cornflower posts about my desk you'll know what I'm talking about here, but all is now calm and clear with only two books to hand, and a big change from this morning when I could barely see over the piles.
I hope everyone who is reading South Riding for the CBG is not like me, dashing to finish it in time for Saturday - and I've still got over a hundred pages to go - but I have finished Kim Edwards's new novel, The Lake of Dreams, and I'll tell you more soon, but for now I'll say that I definitely prefer it to The Memory Keeper's Daughter.
That's current reading, but if I swivel round to the shelves behind me, there are all the most recent acquisitions which I've yet to read (though there are another five piles elsewhere), but these are now off the floor, off the desk itself, easy to reach. Joy!
I've not come across South Riding until the television series appeared so I'm really looking forward to hearing what you think of it.

I am also looking forward to hearing about South Riding. Not sure if I want to pick it up and read it or not?
I adore the picture of the bookshelves, plenty to choose from how do you know what to read next? It takes me ages to decide.

Me too, Jo, lots of swithering usually!

Oh, Jo, don't go by the television version - read it, read it!

But, of course, we are dashing like you to finish! I've got about 185 pgs. left, but I have an empty evening tonight that I hope will be filled with reading. :)

Despite not having finished yet, but on the basis of the first episode, I'd agree - read it!

Loved South Riding but won't mention it yet ... I finished it a few weeks ago and am now enjoying the TV version.
