Where am I? As usual, I'm at home in Edinburgh.
But where am I bookwise? I'm fifty miles to the west, in the Glasgow of 1888, attending the International Exhibition of Science, Art and Industry with a young lady named Harriet Baxter, and meeting the artist Ned Gillespie.
How did I get to this site beside the River Kelvin, with its Doulton Fountain, Van Houten's Cocoa House, Dynamo Shed and display of the Queen's Jubilee Gifts? Through the pages of Gillespie and I* by Jane Harris which I'm enjoying enormously.
Where are you (bookwise or otherwise)?
*The book's lovely jacket was designed by Petra Börner, by the way.
