I must be the only person in the world who has not read any Scandinavian crime, but when I saw this interview (part 1, 2 & 3) with Jussi Adler-Olsen the other day, something about his engaging manner made me want to correct that omission with his prize-winning novel Mercy.
A politician went missing five years ago; everyone assumes she is dead, and searching for her is a waste of time, but Carl Mørck, head of the newly-created Department Q which deals with 'cases of special focus', thinks otherwise.
This book has had massive sales in its native Denmark and in Germany and has now been translated into English for the first time. I'm looking forward to it.
