"What's she trying to get us to do now, Mollie?"
"Couldn't tell you, Pip, but I hope it's not that old 'let's teach the dogs to read' nonsense."
"Well, we could chew them when she's not looking."
"I wouldn't try that if I were you, young pup. She thinks these are good."
Thomas and Simon S. are celebrating the work of Anita Brookner with IABD today, and they have generously allowed posts involving pets to be included. I had hoped to re-read Hotel du Lac for the occasion but I haven't managed it, so the Cornflower contribution will be limited to that of the resident canine critics.
Those dogs look so intelligent that I wouldn't be surprised if they did read Anita Brookner when you weren't at home!

Karen, they are gorgeous! I wish I had a pet on hand to contribute...
But you're obviously a Brookner fan?

Such a lovely pair of labs! And I am a huge Anita Brookner fan, I haven't read one fir ages, the idea if re-reading Hotel du Lac is a splendid one.

What beautiful, glossy dogs... and what serious, wise expressions. I'm afraid they've stolen the show from Anita Brookner here!

Ellie, our bearded collie wants to encourage Mollie to try reading. It's well known that dogs can read and a friend in the Friendly Beardie Forum has posted a video of how to teach them on YouTube

That is very impressive (and puts my two illiterates to shame)! Well done to Luna and her owner, and thankyou, Sandy, for the link.

How did I miss International Anita Brookner day?!
The little one looks intrigued by A Start in Life. Might be tasty.
Beautiful pups!
