I got an email today from The History Press to tell me that now available in e-book form as well as in paperback are several historical novels by Norah Lofts. That name was a whisper from the past as I'm sure my mother had - and most likely still has - several Norah Lofts books, but she's not an author I've ever read, nor even seen mentioned for many a year.
Keen to know more, I looked her up and discovered that she was certainly prolific, and that her Suffolk Trilogy comprising The Town House, The House at Old Vine and The House at Sunset,
first published in the late 1950s and early '60s, follows the history of a specific house and those who lived in it. According to this site, on which you can see a picture of the house which is believed to have been the inspiration for the books, these are meticulously researched historical romances beginning in the late fourteenth century and ending in the mid-twentieth, but click here and you can read a very comprehensive article about them.
So, have you read Norah Lofts?
