I love State of Wonder and have given it to two doctor friends - one an obstetrician and the other a malaria research scientist, I hope they read it some day!
There is a really good death in Your Presence is Requested at Suvanto, I've never read one that seemed so much like the real thing as this does. But it's something we all experience in a different personal way.

The judges' appearance at the Festival sounds fun and interesting - if you can classify "memorable deathbed scenes" as fun. :-) Anyway, it sounds like something I would like to attend - if only I could get there.

I have only read State of Wonder which I really enjoyed and got very caught up in, rather to my surprise.
I would dearly love to read the Louisa Young, but since my local library has only purchased it in an audio version - and I'm not a fan of the medium - I think I am going to have to wait for it to come out in paperback before I read it, probably some time next year.
As for deathbed scenes - I am afraid I am equally clueless as I currently can't think of one, good, bad or indifferent!

Loved State of Wonder but do move Louisa Young to the top of the pile. I really liked her novel very much!
