We've been down in the Borders today, paying another visit to the lovely Mainstreet Trading Company in the village of St. Boswell's.
It's one of the nicest bookshops you'll find anywhere, so do make a beeline for it if you're ever in the area.
We met friends for a jolly good browse and some buying - Anthony Horowitz's new Sherlock Holmes novel The House of Silk and The MET Office Book of the British Weather
came home with us, while one friend discovered Henrietta
(I may have influenced that choice ...) and another was scouting out possible reads for a forthcoming long flight.
And we had lunch: the most excellent, hearty sandwiches followed by superb coffee and a Tunisian citrus cake (similar to this recipe, I think) which was so good we had to exercise considerable restraint not to go back for second helpings.
Perfick!
I was sorely tempted by a cake that looked the twin of that this afternoon but succumbed to a quince tart instead.

I made a pitstop at this shop during the Summer whilst staying at Roulotte Retreat approximately 2 miles away. We rented a cottage with a gypsy caravan in the garden,
where my daughter and I read stories by lamplight. It was beautiful...highly recommended.

I'm nearly half way through The House of Silk (on Kindle, of course) and am loving it. I look forward to hearing what you think of it.

For anyone interested in the weather and, in particular, the sea areas and weather around our coast, the books by Peter Collyer, such as South By Southwest and Rain Later, Good?
Love the look of that bookshop!
As for the cake ... truly yum!

I'd love to try quince tart - there's ne'er a quince to be had in these parts, though.
