It was warm enough to sit outside today, so Mr. C. climbed up to his den - a tree 'house' in the Scots pine - and read Summer Lightning. That's a picture of contentment.

It was a lovely day in London too, but the only time I wasn't working was when I was running a mile for Sport Relief. Very envious, how does he manage to get the time to do this?

A tree house ! Great !
WD Mr Cornflower. I makes me in my Adirondack chair with 'Madeline's Ghost' (Robert Girard) seem very prosaic! Reading outdoors is such a rare event in our climate that it's worth pausing to enjoy it when you can.
PS Your Camellia is beautiful.

The camellia is fairly anonymous most of the time but for three weeks each spring it is almost outrageously, tropically beautiful, very out of place in an Edinburgh back garden. It is actually a few days past the absolute peak of perfection, some of the blossoms are withering and falling to the ground.

It's the same with ours - but I forgive them the long stealthy phase for the sake of the beauty now. Along with our Rhodys and Magnolias, it is the best show for years, following this milder winter.

Camellias and Magnolias are absolutely magnificent in London at the moment.
