I've spotted a few good things in the current Kindle books promotion, for example, the first four of Elizabeth Peters's Amelia Peabody series as an omnibus edition (they come with glowing recommendations - have a look here), Julian Barnes's The Pedant In The Kitchen (there's a bit about it here), BB's The Little Grey Men (beloved by Mr. C. - and see his post on Brendon Chase), Nigel Slater's memoir Toast: The Story of a Boy's Hunger (there's a 'crumb' from it here), and Sarah Moss's Names for the Sea: Strangers in Iceland (which I mentioned re. knitting and quoted again the other day).

Some very nice spots there, thank you. I have just added the Amelia Peabody omnibus and the new Sarah Moss book to my basket!

Although my e-reader is not the K version, I did buy the Amelia Peabody Ominbus. Awaiting Hurricane Sandy and anticipate being without power up to a week or more if the dire predictions come true. Must have reading material for the storm (plus a generator to at least power up the mobiles and the ereaders). Not to mention a huge stack of regular books...and a flashlight or two.

Thank you for that. I've bought the Sarah Moss, would have missed it without you flagging it up.

Thinking of you, Mary, and all on the east coast - here's hoping that it is not as bad as feared.

I hope you'll enjoy them, Sarah.

You're welcome, Claire.

Just bought all but Toast (I read it a while ago). Seven books for a fiver - cheaper than the charity shops. Thank you for posting these finds - I do follow the Amazon deal of the day on Twitter, but don't always catch it.

I don't always follow up all the Amazon emails, but I'm glad I looked at that one as there are some good things there, and as you say, very cheap.

What excellent taste Mr C has! I still have my childhood copy of The Little Grey Men, with lovely line drawings to illustrate it... and I still love reading it!
