- Another bargain: by coincidence, the book I wrote about yesterday, Claire King's The Night Rainbow, is available for Kindle today at only £1.39*.
- There's a lovely anecdote from an interview with Jeffrey Archer in the paper this morning. Finishing a highly successful book tour of India, "I was being driven to the airport when we stopped at the lights and a little boy carrying a pile of books knocked on the window of the car. 'Do you want the latest Jeffrey Archer?' he asked me. 'I am the latest Jeffrey Archer,' I told him."
- If you aspire to be 'the next Jeffrey Archer', you make like to know about Agent Hunter, "the most comprehensive literary agent database. All the agents. All the publishers. What they want. Where to find them."
- For more help and advice towards publication, there's the Writers & Artists/Psychologies Magazine writing weekend in London in April, with workshops led by Liz Jensen and Romesh Gunesekera and Q&A sessions with editors and agents.
- Vintage Books happened to tweet this morning about their recent reissue of Stoner by John Williams (and how well it is selling in one shop compared to ... a certain 'Grey' book), and as Stoner is a terrific novel, I'd urge you to read it if you haven't already done so. There's a post on it here.
*Also in the Kindle Spring Sale is Painter of Silence by Georgina Harding (one of my books of 2012 - post here), and Deborah Harkness's A Discovery of Witches (a fun read, as you'll see here).
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I come home from school on Fridays, collapse with a cup of tea, and read "my" blogs--Cornflower Books is the first on the list. Despite the stack of projects to grade, the planning to do, the messy house, and the guests due for dinner tomorrow night, I now have one book from this past week's postings waiting for me at the Library, and three more on reserve. Get thee behind me, Satan. . . Perhaps I should visit only once/month!

I clicked on to the John Stoner link and read the post from 2010 - delighted to see the heading for that post 'we can be heroes' - how appropriate - The V&A retrospective exhibition on David Bowie is hitting the full five star mark in reviews and it is anticipated that this will be THE most successful exhibition (visitor numbers) at the V&A eveeeer! Hoorah for the Thin White Duke!

I want to see it!

Perhaps I should post less often, Rebecca, but then again, the books come in at such a rate that to keep up I need to do even more!

I recently purchased the NYRB paperback of Stoner because I have heard so many good things about it. Haven't read it yet though!
