I've been in London as the guest of Orion Books at a party to celebrate women's fiction, and when I say I was thrilled to meet some of their stellar group of authors, those are not empty words. I shall unashamedly name-drop now because it's not every day that one gets the chance to talk to Deborah Lawrenson, Erica James, Liz Fenwick, Fanny Blake, Harriet Lane, and Diane Setterfield, but I met them all and had such fun in their company.
Thank you, Orion, for a super evening, and thank you to all the authors whose work gives us such pleasure and without which these pages would not exist.
Karen, it was just fantastic to meet YOU and to be able to say thank you in person for all the thoughtful and enthusiastic support you give us writers, not just Orion authors. It was a lot of fun. If you look on the Cherry Picks facebook page, you and I feature in one of the 16 party photos having a right old laugh (and a major hot flush in my case, ooh dear...!) All the best, and I hope you got back to Edinburgh without too much incident.

It was fun, Deborah, and I've seen the pictures (back to hiding behind that blue flower now ...).
Here's to the next time!

It was just great to chat to all the ladies and to be able to tell them in person how much I'd enjoyed their books (I also found out a little about Diane Setterfield's next book, and it sounds very exciting!).
