Persephone Books have just issued their latest 'Biannually' - you can get it if you subscribe to their mailing list, and it's always well worth reading. Amongst other things it features their newest titles, one of which is Mollie Panter-Downes' London War Notes, her 'Letters from London', published in The New Yorker during the Second World War.
As a great admirer of Mollie's writing I've already ordered my copy, and it will join the two collections of her short stories which Persephone publish, that is Good Evening, Mrs. Craven and Minnie's Room, and her utterly superb novel One Fine Day.
If you don't already know this marvellously subtle, elegant writer, I urge you to discover her without delay.
I do enjoy Mollie's work so that is something to look forward to and I usually love the artwork that Persephone puts on the cover of Biannually.

They always choose their paintings very well.

How exciting! I am still on their mailing list (though an order to them is long overdue...) so I hope I get my copy of the Biannually soon. And yay for a 'new' MPD--I do love her work and this is a book I would love to own.

I've read just one of her books and liked the style of writing so much.

I wonder what her early novels are like.

Always very happy to see the biannually drop through the letterbox. I'll be in London next month - I feel a visit to the shop may be in order!

I think this might just be the finest of Mollie's fine books, and I'm so thrilled that it is coming back into print!
