William Acton, brother of Harold, drew all the Mitford sisters; above is Nancy, and here - at The Swan Inn, Swinbrook (close to what was their childhood home) are reproductions of all six portraits.
Nancy's novels The Pursuit of Love and Love in a Cold Climate are two of my all-time favourites (though I don't care for the covers on those editions), and her letters are also wonderfully entertaining: try Love From Nancy: The Letters of Nancy Mitford or The Mitfords: Letters between Six Sisters (there's a post on it here).
The portrait drawings are excellent, he is talented. I read the book "Sisters", a wonderful book about the Mitford sisters.

Both books of letters give a wonderful insight into the world of the Mitfords.

Ugh, I certainly agree with you about those book covers.
The Pursuit of Love is such a favourite of mine that I have at least three copies!

Yes, adored The Pursuit of Love but am afraid to re-read it these days, in case I'm disappointed
