This is available in the US on Kindle at a reasonable price, much easier and quicker than ordering a print copy from the UK. While I prefer a real book, this is a good option in terms of differing US/UK availability.

I just finished reading it this morning (USA Kindle edition) and absolutely loved it. Thank you so much for recommending it so highly. As a recent widow, the depiction of grief, mourning, and recovering yourself to re-enter the world was perfectly portrayed. Work, music, and books (along with family and friends) helped me heal too. Lovely tone throughout and I am ready to go visit Northumbria today. My favorite book so far this year.

I believe Sue Gee lost her husband some years ago, so she writes of grief from personal experience.

I'm not surprised to hear that she was widowed - while you don't need to experience something to write about it, those two sections of the book had a depth of feeling that made it authentic. I couldn't have read this book two years ago, but it was perfectly timed for this moment in my life.
