Toffeeapple

I am with Claire King on this subject but would add a book, some good red wine and possibly something small but sweet.

Cornflower

Excellent additions, Toffeepple!

I (you will be amazed to hear) disagree. A "dreamery" is a state of mind in which you let yourself dream, it has nothing in principle to do with with a particular place or time. I can dream as easily on a crowded tube train as I can in a remote cottage. Wine (though I love it) I find clashes with my ability to think deeply (which is dreaming for me) about things and I can assure you that me sleeping dreams are anything but "dreamy".

Well you wouldn't want me to just not my head in agreement all the time would you!

Dark Puss

Or even NOD my head :-)

I think that I do my best, most expansive dreaming in very ordinary places. It's the familiarity of these places that allows your imagination to go elsewhere. Working on routine tasks on an allotment is perfect for this!

When you are actually in locations that are inspiring/beautiful/interesting etc, you become engrossed in living that moment & putting away those memories to add to dreams some other time.

Dark Puss

I agree with you; it is the mundane that truly allows deep, abstract thought (for me anyway). Whether these days it is actually at all deep I am not sure I'd wish to say :(

GretchenJoanna

A dreamery - what a splendid word and concept! I'm afraid I turn most places into dreameries and get so little "done" that way.
