Adding to the already groaning shelves

We paid another visit to Topping & Company's St. Andrews branch today, and a few minutes' browsing yielded this fine lot. The top three are mine, the others Mr. C's.

Note the spelling mistake on the spine of Evelyn Waugh's biography of Ronald Knox!

But I did send a bag full of books to the charity shop last week, so more have gone out recently than have come in ...

I never leave Toppings unscathed. Didn't know Evelyn Waugh had written about Ronald Knox, I've read Penelope Fitzgerald's biography, The Knox Brothers and found it fascinating so may be tempted by the Waugh. How did that spelling mistake get through!

The House of Air is a joy, always on my bedside table. What a great writer she was.
