P.D. James's publishers Faber have today launched a website dedicated to her work.
A biographical section sits alongside full details of all her books and an archive containing numerous audio and video interviews*, manuscripts, and more. Do take a look.
*I've just been watching the video of P.D. James in conversation with Colin Dexter on the subject of her book Talking About Detective Fiction, and feeling that the world is a poorer place for their loss.
Have you read any and, if so, where would you recommend starting?

I have read quite a few over the years, Claire, most recently P.D. James's first book, Cover Her Face. Unless you particularly want to take them in order I'd suggest not starting with that one. Good as it is, it shows a degree of self-consciousness and a stiffness which I'm sure are down to her finding her voice; later ones are much more assured.
Away from the novels, I very much enjoyed her 'fragment of autobiography', Time To Be In Earnest, and Talking About Detective Fiction, which I mention above, but back to them, perhaps Devices and Desires or Death in Holy Orders.

Oh thank you, that's very helpful and good to know they don't have to be read in order. I'm going to be in Toppings in St Andrews today..........
