    The excellent book from which I've quoted here - more on it soon;

    the programme for next month's Oxford Literary Festival;

    an addition to my Sargent shelf;

    a back issue of Slightly Foxed;

    some soothing Bach (listen for the moment of birdsong at the end);

    and the best mint tea I've come across.

Funny you should mention Sargent. I was in the library today and saw a copy of "Sargent's Women: Four Lives Behind the Canvas" but did not pick it up. Have you read it? If so, any comment?
