I posted my first impressions of A.J. Pearce's debut Dear Mrs. Bird back in April. Suffice to say its early promise was more than fulfilled for it sustained me at a very difficult time, its narrator Emmy's sweet and positive voice lifting my spirits, her plucky, caring, helpful nature providing welcome distraction.
When I finished it I passed it to Mr. C. who read it in a day and said "what a super book!". His parents got it too and enjoyed it greatly. It reminded me in tone of the delightful Henrietta, and that is praise indeed.
