Where has the time gone?
I am way behind with everything, it seems, not least responding to your recommendations on last Friday's post, all of them much appreciated.
In the end I decided on Tirzah Garwood's autobiography Long Live Great Bardfield as my next book, and 150 pages in I've got very mixed feelings about it, but perhaps she's just about to get into her stride and my reservations will fade away. We shall see.
In other reading, the rest of the pile above arrived this week: plenty to enjoy there.
I like the look of your reading pile!

I’m glad to find I’m not the only one who didn’t warm to Tirzah. Despite my eager anticipation and love of all things Ravilious I found this book to be a disappointment and her, at times, judgemental attitude hard to swallow, although in her defence I don’t think Eric was always an easy man to live with.

Similar thoughts on the Tirzah, to yours and the above comment. Lover of all things Ravillious, along with living close to Eastbourne I enjoyed the book in parts and went on a few walks to find some of the places mentioned. Sadly the house Tirzah lived in when growing up is no more. It has been replaced by a small block of flats within the original gardens and the house name remains.
Intrigued with The Head Gardner’s; off to check the library catalogue.

I did like the Great Bardfield book. I think it was the insight into their everyday lives that I thought was interesting. That's a very tempting stack of books you have!
