... clearing books.
It was time to tackle the study: pretty much all fifty feet of shelving there was double-stacked and there were piles on the floor; everything was dusty. Now all is clean, clear, and calm! 150 books have gone to charity, 100 to another room, and the rest have been reorganised. There are still many hundreds elsewhere in the house to be sorted but we'll leave those for another day.
Well done Cornflower! I will now have to try and channel your inspiration and tackle my own shelves - something I have been procrastinating over for far too long!

I was ruthless! (Well, a bit ruthless)

Your own (mini) Long Room. Well done. Just think what it would take to dust off that other collection.

Whilst watching the eclipse through the dining room windows early on Monday morning I fell to thinking how great it would be to have an entire wall of bookcases there rather than the various sized ones used now. There is much double shelving, piles on top , piles on the floor. One day.....meanwhile I really should have a culling session, yours sounds very inspiring.

I must say that the room - though not unpleasant before - now feels so much better to be in.

Of course it does, now try having an empty desk too :-)

It's pretty clear, too!

Funny--I have done the same over the past two weekends, engaging in the welcome process of feeding the cycle of the library booksale from whence we get many of the books that we try out, set aside, or fall in love with! So nice to see the clean space, even as we know they'll get dusty and full!

It is good to put books back into circulation, and yes, it's remarkable how quickly the space gained tends to fill up again.
