All good, but the top three on the pile were the highlights: The Armourer's House by Rosemary Sutcliff is pure delight, Juliet Nicolson's The Great Silence 1918-1920 Living in the Shadow of the Great War, fascinating and moving in equal measure, and The Appeal by Janice Hallett is ingeniously, brilliantly done!

I received The Appeal for Christmas and read the whole thing in two days. I'm really looking forward to her next book!
I have another Julie Nicholson that I'm hoping to get to soon, The Perfect Summer, which is about WWI just before the war.

Re. The Appeal, Karen, I couldn't put it down!
Very much looking forward to reading The Twyford Code.
I greatly enjoyed The Perfect Summer and I'm sure you will too.

Loved The Appeal so much I read it twice. The Twyford Code is good but I think The Appeal is better.
