A simply lovely read

    Miss Read's Thrush Green is comfort reading: gentle, wise, attuned to the beauty of the natural world and to the cares, concerns, and joys of the human one. If you're looking for a 'nice' book, go no further.

I'll second that! I have a couple of shelves filled with Miss Read books. They are ancient, I started reading them as a youngish woman and I go back to visit that lovely world every so often.
